Shaker tunes, spirituals, shape-note hymns, and folk songs by Mary Lord
An American Christmas includes carols from the very rich Shaker, spiritual, shape-note and folk song traditions of the United States. They have been set as solo versions for the beginning to intermediate guitarist, who has been playing for about a year and would like to spread Christmas cheer using the guitar. The book is in standard notation as well as tablature. Chords are also included for accompaniment purposes, as are the lyrics and a CD recorded by the author. This is a collection of carols that will be appreciated by players of classical guitar and other styles as well, and that players can return to year after year as the Christmas season comes around. The collection can provide literature for guitarists who are looking for background music to play at Christmas parties, and for students playing in Christmas recitals.
The world's premier method for learning modern plectrum style guitar, time-tested and proven successful in building the theoretic and technical foundation needed to play in any style. All seven grades of this method are written in standard notation only to encourage better sight reading. In Grade 1, the student guitarist will learn to play solos, duets, scales, and chords in the keys of C, A minor, G and E minor. Even in Grade 1, the student is already exposed to the chord/melody concept of guitar performance. A supplementary study book entitled Grade 1 Studies, two different play-along CD recordings (pop and traditional), and a VHS or DVD video are available. The companion recordings feature Tommy Flint and William Bay playing in split-track format, with the solo parts performed on the right channel, and the accompaniment or second duet parts played on the left. The student can play along with the full recording, or tune out either channel and play the missing part.

93390BCD - Blues Lead Guitar Method by Steve Griffin
One of the all-time best selling books on blues lead guitar playing. Playing lead blues-rock guitar depends on mainly two things: 1) what you can hear in your mind, and 2) getting your fingers to the proper sounds on your instrument. This book was written with emphasis on the second idea. There are four blues-rock finger patterns used in this book utilizing all six strings of the guitar with each pattern. These four patterns connect with each other enabling the lead player to use the entire fingerboard and range of the guitar to express his musical ideas. Charts are used to show you how to place these four patterns at the proper place on the neck for improvising in any key. Great rock solos can be played in any one of these for patterns or in any combination of the patterns. Written in box diagram and tablature form (notation also included), this fine text takes the beginning guitarist into solid, funk/rock lead solo playing. Play-along CD included.

99939BCD 50 Tunes for Banjo, Volume 1
Traditional, Old Time, Bluegrass & Celtic Solos by Mark Geslison
50 Tunes Volume 1 for Banjo is one book in a 5-book series. The 50 Tunes series is a collection of Bluegrass, Old Time and Celtic tunes for ensembles, families and individuals. This book contains the same 50 tunes as those found in the other 4 books of the series, but carefully designed for the banjo.
The parts in this book range from beginner to advanced. Though many parts are arranged in standard "Scruggs" style, some are arranged in frailing or "clawhammer" style, and many are arranged in "melodic" style. Where "Scruggs" style is considered, "less melody/more finger roll pattern," melodic style, as the name implies, is "more melody/less finger roll pattern." Clawhammer style uses no finger roll patterns; instead, it is made up of a melody within a strumming rhythm pattern. Clawhammer is considered a "self-accompaniment" style. Companion CD’s included.
