Bill Dykes "Mr D"
Bill Dykes
Bill Dykes has been teaching guitar for over 25 years. He graduated with honors from George Mason University's music program where he studied classical guitar with Larry Snitzler, a student of Andres Segovia.

Throughout his teaching career, "Mr. D" has transmitted to hundreds of students the joy of playing guitar. Many of these students have gone on to advanced programs in music while others actively perform in music groups.

Bill is still active in the performing world in rock, classical, and bluegrass guitar. He is also a producer, songwriter, arranger and sound engineer, having produced several studio demos and recordings.

Mr. D's Very Beginner Book  With CD
I developed this guitar playing method from over 17 years of teaching students as young as four and a half years of age. Since at that age they generally do not read or understand language on the level of self-help methods, I needed a teaching tool I felt confident each of my students could identify with on his or her learning level. The book is designed to get them up to a reading and playing level that will allow them to read and play the music in those big kid books. I discovered early on that they could read and play music on a high level faster than they could learn to read written language, as long as someone gave just a little help. The notes are big to keep confusion to a low level. The initial pieces are simple to an adult, but to a child, they are playing Music.
